deliver(ed)

i hold out the words, cradle them gently and seal them with a kiss. i open my fingers and the message spreads out her wings and flies to you and i watch her go, beautiful against the sun until she is too far gone to find with my eyes but i feel her moving still, hurtling toward you with desperate urgency, like a scream traveling underwater.

i scan the skies for a word sailing home to me and find none, hear nothing. she delivers and i wait.
